Some Facts about John Lennon
John Lennon was born in Liverpool, England. At the age of 15, he wrote his first song, “Hello Little Girl,” and became a UK top 10 hit song for the band Fourmost in 1963. He met Paul McCartney while performing with his first band. They hit it off quickly and started practicing at Paul’s home. In early 1960, the Beatles were formed. He was one of four that made up the famous Beatles band. They played in Germany for many years and were introduced to drugs. The band’s first single, “Love Me Do” was released in 1962 which became the beginning of Beatlemania.
After a few years of tumultuous times for the band, it finally broke up in 1970. Lennon decided to pursue a career as a solo artist. He had many hits during his ten-year career including Power to the People, Imagine, How Do You Sleep?, Jealous Guy, and Happy Xmas (War is Over) to name a few.
John Lennon was married twice and had a son from each of his wives, Julian and Sean. He was a devoted father to Sean. His life was cut short when he was shot outside of his hotel, the Dakota, twice in the back and twice in the shoulder at close range. He was rushed to the hospital in a police cruiser and was pronounced dead on arrival.
