Some Quick Facts about Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci is best known for the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper paintings, but he is so much more. He was born in Italy and was a painter, engineer, architect, and inventor who loved all things scientific. He was a natural genius.
Leonardo Da Vinci was largely self-educated. He received no formal education beyond basic reading, writing, and math. He filled dozens of secret notebooks with his inventions, observations, and theories on what he pursued from aeronautics to human anatomy. His intellect and imagination allowed him to create on paper inventions such as the bicycle, the helicopter, and the airplane based on the physiology and flying ability of a bat.
Leonardo Da Vinci died at Cloux (now Clos-Lucé) in 1519 at age 67.
