"Challenges can be stepping stones or stumbling blocks. It's just a matter of how you view them." - Author Unknown
Your action plan is to think of a challenge that you are having and see if you can view it as an opportunity instead of a challenge.
Let us know in the comments what your challenge is and how you see it as an opportunity.
If you don’t have any challenges, read below and do the exercise for a difficult person in your life. Let us know in the comments below what the positive attributes were for this person.
A Different Take on Difficult People
I had the opportunity while in the Marine Corps to be one of the four Marines that were in an internship program. The program ended after the first and only year because of the war in Afghanistan. Anyways, I also took all the leadership classes that Lockheed Martin would allow me. There were a lot of them and I learned something in each class.
This one particular class was How to Deal with Difficult People. One of the exercises that we had to do was to think of someone that we didn’t want to be in the same room with. It was easy for me to pick that person because I didn’t have very many people on that list. For the exercise, we were to write down three things that were positive about the person. It was hard for me to think of one positive attribute for this person much less three but I did it.
After doing this exercise, I have had a different outlook on the person and see them in a brand new light. Let me tell you, it is so uplifting to think about the positive attributes instead of all the negative ones.
